PLEASE READ – Update February 2022
While we are still dealing with ongoing issues with Covid and do have protocols in place for ensuring the highest concern for safety, we are still struggling with the daily requests for immediate assistance with pet care.
The veterinary field has undergone and continues to suffer from a multitude of problems including high volumes of request for assistance with pets and low levels of staffing. While we do understand the frustration in getting care for your beloved pets, we encourage caution and careful planning.
In order to better assist you with needs for medications and appointments, please bear in mind that we are booked out for appointments for 4-6 weeks in advance. Tech appointments are booked out about 3 weeks.
While we do try at all times to work in pets of established clients for urgent concerns, we do not have the ability to see every pet on short notice. We will always try to triage the most critical cases we can manage here and divert what we cannot. If our staff asks for you to seek care at walk-in or emergency clinics it is not out of disregard for our relationship or concern for your pet, in fact is it just the opposite. We always want the best outcomes for any pet, and sometimes the best thing for the pet is to be seen as soon as possible.
For medication requests, we do understand that emergencies do occur, but please understand that we do not have a staff dedicated to filling medications. Our technicians do many jobs here including care for pets under anesthesia, assisting the doctors during appointments, taking care of technician’s appointments, and refilling medications. They do not always have the ability to fill a prescription at a moment’s notice. Our doctor’s, too, are fulfilling a multitude of roles and in order to refill medications need to read over a patient’s chart before approving medication refills. We have and continue to endeavor to make this process as efficient as possible, but sometimes problems beyond our control arise making it impossible to get everything done that we would like to on any given day.
We request 3 to 5 days to get medications filled. Please plan accordingly. If requesting meds from an online source like Chewy or 1-800-PETMEDS plan for an additional day for requests to make it to us.
